THANK YOU MAMA

Hello, it's Tomiwa again! I hope you're all having a fabby Sunday and that you all enjoyed our Leibster Award post earlier on in the week. So as you can tell from the tittle this post is a little thank you to my lovely mum!

Flashback to when I must have been about 8 or 9 and I was in my bedroom moisturising my legs. My mum came in and I said something along the lines of "I'm going to have legs just like Rachel Stevens" (I was obsessed with S Club 7). My mum responded with, "Don't have legs like Rachel Stevens, have your own legs."

Flashforward to now and I think this is one of the most important things my Mama has ever said to me. I constantly see people on my Twitter, Instagram and Facebook posting 'fitspiration' or saying things such as 'I wish I looked like her' or 'body like her please' with a picture of a very beautifully airbrushed girl. Now, don't get me wrong, I think it is so important to appreciate and celebrate the beauty of other women - sometimes we don't do it enough. However, I think it is unhealthy to want to be something else, to use another women as your 'body inspiration'. My reasons why? All our bodies are different. Genetics plays a huge part in this, just because something works for one person does not mean that it will work for you, it doesn't even mean it should work for you.

It is completely and totally acceptable/allowed/okay to want to change your body, to make yourself fitter, healthier and to feel better about yourself. It's something i am determined to do myself this year. I just believe it is unhealthy to want to have the body of someone else, particularly those who frequent the media.

I don't have legs like Rachel Stevens and you know what? I don't want legs like hers, I love my legs and even though I don't like my body all the time, I love my body because it's mine. So thank you Mama, for making sure I always have my own legs!

I'd love to know what you all think and hear some different perspectives on this topic. I think it's really important and interesting and it is always nice to here a different opinion so please let me know in the comments below!

My Everyday Make Up Must Haves

Hey, so I hope you're all well! It's Alice here and today I'm going to be talking about my everyday make up musts, so enjoy!

1. VITAMIN C SKIN REVIVER - The Body Shop
On the back of this bottle it says the "perfect base for make-up application" and it does just that. This product smells amazing (if you like oranges that is), it leaves my skin soft, smooth to look at and gives me a bit of a glow that's actually really nice if I don't feel like putting on make-up that day.

2. WAKE ME UP CONCEALER - Rimmel London
This stuff is amazing, especially for under the eyes and hiding those certain bags you don't want to show! It hides spots and blemishes well and it's not too heavy on the face. When I can't be bothered with foundation or much make-up, I'll just put a little bit of this concealer on and I feel and look INSTANTLY better!

3. STAY MATTE POWDER - Rimmel London

This powder is really great for getting rid of shine and setting your foundation. Although, I would say it's the kind of product you need to have in your bag if your going out because you will probably have to give yourself a little bit of a touch up, otherwise it's still a great product and for an everyday look, it is perfect.

4. BRONZE GLOW - Collection
This is a simple product which is great for contouring but for just an everyday look, I put this stuff on my cheeks and on my temples to give myself a lovely sun kissed look!

5. CONTOUR PARFAIT LIP LINER - L'Oréal
Everybody needs a lip liner. It makes your lips more defined, is perfect for keeping your lipstick on and you can also use it to achieve the Kylie Jenner look - you know what I mean! At the moment, I am really liking a nude/pink lip and so this liner in the colour 657 Rosewood, is perfect for giving me the colour and look I want.

6. LASTING FINISH LIPSTICK - Rimmel London
This lipstick in the colour Asia is perfect in allowing me to achieve my nude lip and it only needs a little bit of touching up throughout the day. I've also found with this one I don't need to put as much on my lips compared to some other brands so it's perfect!

7. SLEEK (2 products for eyebrows and mascara)
Sleeks mascara is not too full on, makes your eyelashes defined and leaves no clumps which is always good in my books! Sleek also does an AMAZING wax and powder product for eyebrows that I can no longer live without!. On my next Sunday I will be doing a tutorial with this product to show you exactly how I get my eyebrows so I won't give too much away!

So, these are all the products I use and I would definately recommend them all. I would love to know about your everyday make up must haves as well because I love to find and try new products. Also, if you have a peek on my instagram you can see more of my everyday selfies!

 My final look

Have a good week!

My Sassy Tips for University

Hey, hey, hey, it's Tomiwa here, hope you're all having a fabulous Sunday! So as you can probably tell from the title, I thought it would be cool to share my tips and advice on how I think you can make your University experience sassy! With a new year and the beginning of another semester, I think now is as good time a time as any to make some changes. For me, the word sassy expresses positivity, boldness and fun with maybe a little bit of cheekiness, and I think that it's the perfect way to approach your university life.

Before I get started on my sassy tips I'll tell you a little bit about myself. I am second year History student at the University of Edinburgh and although my family live in Edinburgh, I actually live in a flat with 3 other students. I originally started uni as a psychology student and so the past year and half has not ran as smoothly as I might of liked but I feel that I have learnt a lot and I am determined to make the most of my second semester. I've managed to whittle it down to three main tips, so here we go!

Be prepared and organised: Honestly, preparation is key. The biggest difference between university and school is that there is nobody there chasing after you to make sure you get your coursework done, wake you up in the mornings or make your dinner for you! So, the first thing I do at the beginning of each semester is go through my respective course handbooks, write out all my deadlines, pick essay questions and then stick this up on my pin board which is above my desk. It seems a little bit extreme but uni has this lovely habit of sneaking up on you and so it's good to have a constant reminder and be prepared.

Plan: I'm going to be really honest here, I'm an obsessive planner. I will plan my meals for the week, the hours I'm going to be in the library, I'll even timetable my day (including showering, eating, watching TV) if I'm really stressed. Now, I know this doesn't work for everyone but I think a little but of planning does go a long way. So, either on a Sunday night before your week begins or each night before you go to sleep, write a little 'to do list' of all the things you need to get done each day. Even if you don't manage to cross it all out, it's better to have it all on paper rather than going round and round in your head before you go to sleep at night.

Find the balance and enjoy it: I think this is the most important piece of advice I can give. Uni has definitely taught me that life is one big balancing act, you're going to have to make sacrifices and you're going to have to do things you don't want to do in order to do the things you do want to do! Work hard and make the most of the opportunities around you - something I'm still working out - but make sure you're enjoying yourself at the same time!

I hope I've not rambled on too much and that my sassy tips are even a little bit helpful! Let me know if you want any more advice posts and please share some of your university tips as well! Obviously, I couldn't end this post without a picture, so here's one taken with my new selfie stick, I know I'm a little bit late but I love it!

Have a fabulous and sassy week!
